The Museum's collection has been organized into 12 categories based on Parks Canada Classification System for Historical Collections. The following list shows the categories and sub categories used, and gives the number of artifacts listed for each category and sub category. The majority of the museum’s collection is in 3 categories, Tools & Equipment for Materials – 267, T & E for Science & Technology –150, and Communication Artifacts – 427. Within the Tools & Equipment for Materials category only 33 items fall into the Agricultural T&E, and 21 items into Animal Husbandry T&E, these are the artifacts directly relating to farming. Within the T & E for Science & Technology 81 items are of Merchandising T&E type, mainly tins, jars, boxes and bottles artifacts. The Communication Artifacts make up the majority of items in the Schoolhouse section of the collection, 203 are books with the rest mainly photographic items.
